About the Circuit "The ten chapels of the Mounts Bay Circuit are set in the countryside between the Penzance and Helston Circuits. It is an area fringed by the beautiful beaches, cliffs and coves of the bay itself, and extending inland beyond Leedstown, with pleasant rolling farmland of tiny fields, smallholdings and horticulture, amid picturesque disused tin mines, and attractive villages. The people who make up the Methodist Churches of this area are as inviting and welcoming as the places where they live. Although there are no large centres of population, the communities of Porthleven (with its harbour and fishing traditions) and Marazion (with its ancient town status, and historic links with St Michael's Mount) are among the beauties that attract visitors all year round. The local population, well reflected in our congregations, includes proportions of those fortunate enough to have lived here all their lives, and also those who have moved here from far and wide, both to work, and also to retire. Alongside Marazion and Porthleven, the other eight chapels, scattered throughout the area, reflect the farming, fishing and tourist industries for which Mounts Bay is famous. Our congregations practice "evangelism through friendship" very effectively, in ways which add to our number those who move to the circuit, and with the consistency which brings holiday-makers back to us year after year. Thinly spread as we are, we value our good and growing ecumenical relationships, through the "Churches Together Around Tregonning" group. Despite being dependant, as much of the circuit is, on Penzance and/or Helston for many of our major services (shops, supermarkets, secondary schools, etc.) we still value our independence, and work with our village communities to maintain much that is good about rural life. Given that several of our societies are too small to maintain a full programme of church life in each place, we seek to further God's work through circuit-wide co-operation. This is regularly enjoyed both in our Circuit Choir, and our Circuit Men's Fellowship, as well as occasionally through Circuit Network, Mission and Circuit Social events."
Mission Statement "We seek to grow, in ways which are relevant to our area, and wherever possible ecumenically, by applying the principles of "Our Calling as Methodists," and in furthering the "Priorities of the Methodist Church," as may be viewed at: http://www.methodist.org.uk "
